Antequera

Centre of historical and
artistic interest, going back at least 5000 years. The Sierra
del Torcal with its prehistoric dolmens is very close to the
town. Located at the crossroads of the A92 Seville-Granada and
A45 Malaga-Cordoba autovias. Popular traditional town for
tourists and golfers and 45 minutes from either Malaga or
Granada airports. A number of smaller villages close by include
Estepa, Fuente de Piedra, Archidona, Benameji, Cuevas San Marco,
Villanueva del Algaidas.

Loja

Truly traditional
Andalucian market town with lots of Moorish influence known as
the city of water. Located in a central position along the A92
Seville- Granada autovia on the Washington Irving Route. Only
25 minutes from Granada airport and 50 minutes from Malaga
airport. Sierra Nevadas and Iznajar Lake within an hour. A
number of white-washed villages close by include Riofrio with
its fish farms and restaurants, Ventorros San Jose, Zagra,
Huetor-Tajar, Venta del Rayo, Ventorros Valerma,Villanueva del
Mesia and Zafarraya on the coastal route.

Granada

Provincial city at the
foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain range and less than an hour
from the skiing. Last Moorish capital and city of islamic
culture with the magnificent Alhambra Palace majestic above the
city. Lots of white-washed villages in the area include Acula,
Agron, Castillo de Tajarja, Cijuela, Colomera, Dehesas Viejas,
Iznalloz, Jayena, Alhama de Granada and the famous hot springs,
Deisfontes, Fuente Vaquero, Lachar, Moraleda de Zafayona, Padul,
Pinos Puente, Romilla, Trasmulas, Valdarrubio and Venta de
Huelma a number of these villages close to popular lakes and
less than 30 minutes from Granada airport.

Montefrio

Very famous white-washed
village, on the Washington Irving Route, located in the rolling
hills to the north-west of Granada and approximately 40 minutes
from Granada airport. The Arab Fortress and neo-classical Church
of La Encarnacion are prominent features, together with the high
gorge of dolmens. A few kilometers beyond the village is Hipo-Nova
with numerous megalithic dolmens, ruins of an Iberian acropolis
and interesting Visigoth tombs. Other white-washed villages in
the area include Alcala la Real, Algarinejo, Alomartes, Bracana,
Illora, Sabariego and Mures.

Villanueva del Trabuco

With its wonderful
pine-clad mountain range, Villanueva del Trabuco lies along a
A359 Malaga to Granada autovia route and is approximately 45
minutes from both Malaga and Granada airports. Busy village with
every facility and conveniently situated in the heart of
Andalucia and the superb road systems linked to all major
Andalucian cities. Other smaller villages close by include
Villanueva del Rosario, Fuente Camacho and Salinas.

Montes de Malaga

The mountainous region to the north and east of the city of Malaga.
An ideal location for those wishing to equally enjoy the mountains
and beaches. Whichever direction you look, you have long-ranging
vistas south across the city, towards Africa across the Mediterranean
and north into the rolling hills where, in the Spring, the many almond
trees are in blossom. A large part of the area is also covered in
pine forest, where family picnics are often seen and leisure pursuits
such as hunting, walking, cycling and horse riding are enjoyed. For
those who wish to sample local cuisine, there are a number of restaurants
along the main Montes route towards Colmenar. Other villages in the
Montes de Malaga include Riogordo and Sedella.
