Property for Sale in Antequera and surrounding villages
Antequera - a place of great historical interest with a combination of pre-historic, Roman and Moorish influence. The town has grown from a Moslem city in the 14-th century to the Christian Antequera of today and original castle remains can still be seen, alongside Renaissance and Boroque-style civil and religious buildings. A very popular area with tourists, the town is located to the north of the Sierra del Torcal mountains and is ideally situated with autovia access to Seville, Cordoba and Granada and is approximately 45 minutes from the coast and airport at Malaga. There are many small outlying attractive white-washed villages where large amounts of land have been given over to olives and cereals and this constitutes the main farming output.
Antequera has much to offer everyone and is a bustling town with markets, narrow streets, restaurants, bars and, of course, the bullring - traditional in most large towns. Local attractions are the lakes and El Torcal mountains to the south and the lagoon at Fuente Piedra, a place of great ecological interest, with its many flamingoes. A new addition to its many attractions is Antequera Golf.
